Bamboo Pad Review

In an effort to be more eco friendly, last year i made the switch from disposable cotton wool pads to reusable bamboo ones. However, I have discovered that not all bamboo pads are equal, and different brands range massively in texture, size, and design. So i thought i would put together a review, giving you my thoughts on the ones i have already used and will continue to add others as and when i try them!

Primark

Price Per Pad: 20p

Texture of Pad: Fairly soft, very flannel like, material is a little thin.

How It Cleans: Cleans fairly well though a little rough on my skin.

After Washing: After only two or three times in the washing machine and tumble dryer the stiching is pulling apart at the edges of some of the pads. Though I imagine if you didn't tumble dry them they would last longer.

Extras: Comes with a small wash bag.

Overall: Unfortunately I think the quality is reflected in the price of these pads. I've always had trouble with Primark's stitching quality.

Bambaw

Price Per Pad: 78p

Texture of Pad: Very soft, like microfiber cloth.

How It Cleans: Cleans makeup off very well, feels nice on my skin, the pad does roll up a bit when using however.

After Washing: I've washed and tumble dried them multiple times and apart from slight discolouration, they look exactly the same as when i bought them.

Extras: Comes with a large washbag.

Overall: These pads are my favourite so far. They are so soft and after 8 months of use are still in perfect shape, definitely worth the money.

Huku

Price Per Pad: 63p

Texture of Pad: Very soft when new, though they become less soft when wet and with use.

How It Cleans: Cleans very well, one pad goes a long way! However a little rough on skin.

After Washing: Lost a bit of softness after washing, shrank slightly after tumble drying.

Extras: Comes in a cardboard pot that can be used as a holder, also comes with a washbag.

Overall: These pads do the job very well, but i do wish they were a bit softer. I love the pot they come in as well as it's very handy to store clean pads in so the washbag can be reserved for dirty pads.

The Zero Waste Store

Price Per Pad: £1.30

Texture of Pad: Quite soft, very thin but fairly dense material. The side that is patterned is less soft and I'm not entirely sure if that side is intended for use of not..?

How It Cleans: Not massively absorbant and the patterned side is rough on skin. But they are bigger than other pads so easy to hold.

After Washing: Washes well though shrank slightly and more so in the tumble dryer.

Extras: Nothing but the pads.

Overall: For the price these are somewhat dissapointing. They are very pretty and have a great finish, but they are not great at doing the job.
